Destination Three: Portugal
Inspired by adventure, we’re building our brand a destination at a time – telling our story through the places we’ve been, the people we’ve met and the things we’ve made along the way.
On the south-western tip of mainland Europe, cradling ancient cities, wild mountains and wave-battered beaches, Portugal sits with her back to Spain and nose to the Atlantic Ocean. Our third destination has so many stories to tell.
For many, their only acquaintance with Portugal is the sun-soaked Algarve. But venture beyond the beach bars and golf courses of Portugal’s most popular province and it’s not long before cobbled streets, dusty farmland and blue-blue skies cast a special kind of spell.
Stacked up by shore, Lisbon’s steep streets and clattering trams promise days of happy wandering. At the mouth of the Douro, stately Porto invites you to gape at its ornamental architecture, port in hand. Whilst a short journey inland and acres of farmland dotted with gnarly cork trees offer the ultimate rural escape.
Over the next six weeks, just as Autumn creeps in, we’re taking a late-summer snapshot of Iberia’s western wing. Keep an eye on the Journal for our latest destination guides, and on our Instagram feed for news of upcoming events and the launch of our destination-lead podcast series.
